Nizami presided the Seminar on "Engineering from Steam Engine to Outer Space" held at SSUET on November 18, 2006 in collaboration with British Council Pakistan, Karachi Center and the University of Warwick, U.K. Mr. William Crofts made his presentation on " Engineering from Steam Engine to Outer Space" highlighting the evolution of engineering sciences and the magnificent roled played by the pioneering engineering in the advancement of engineering profession. |

SSUET invited by HEC to participate in video conference on e-health |
SSUET invited by the HEC to participate in the e-health interactive video conference held on December 5 & 6, 2006 by internet 2 of USA which is not-for-profit advanced networking consortium comprising more than 200 U.S. universities in cooperation with 70 leading corporations, 45 government agencies, laboratories and other institutions of higher learning as well as over 50 international partner organizations. As a landmark achievement the HEC successfully connected the universities on Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN) in an interactive participation with 14 other universities around the globe. |

Seminar on Electrical Energy Conversion and Alternate Sources

SSUET and the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) jointly organized a well-attended Seminar on"Electrical Energy Conversion and Alternate Sources". The Seminar was held on August 26, 2006 at IEP Hall, IEP Karachi Centre. Air Marshal (R) Shahid Hamid Khan, Chairman Alternate Energy Development Board, Government of Pakistan graced the Seminar as the Chief Guest while Mr. Frank Scherschmitt, Cheif Executive Officer, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation was invited as the Guest of Honour. |

| Electronic Engineering Department of SSUET Participates in P@SHA ICT Awards & Conference 2006. |
P@SHA held their Annual ICT Awards & Conference on Sptember 14, 2006 at Pearl Continental Hotel. From Sir Syed University a total of four teams from Electronic Engineering Department participated in this important event and the following projects were displayed in the competition. In the Special Needs Category SSUET won 1st Position for GESTALK, 2nd position for CP CHILD and 3rd Position for HUMANOID HAND- all from Sir Syed University. In the Tertiary Student Category SSUET won 3rd Position for BRAILLE INTERPRETER. |

| Biomedical Engineering Depertment of SSUET Participates in Health - Asia 2006 |
| HEALTH ASIA 2006 was held at Expo Center Karachi from 18-20 August 2006. The Biomedical Engineering Department partcipated in this event. Department displayed their projects at the exhibition included Surgical Diathermy, Short-wave Diathermy, Fat Reduction Belt, Body Mass Index (BMI), Biomechanics Software, Medical Image Processing Software & ECG Simulator. Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan award a shield to SSUET appreciating to Department for its active participation in Health-Asia 2006. |

SSUET Participated in the 6th ITCN Asia 2006 International Exhibition and Conferences held at Karachi Expo Centre from 9th-11th August, 2006. The Projects exhibited by the students of SSUET at this exhibition were Multifaceted Rover,Motion Capture, T-Tracks, Modular Dual Arm Manipulator (MDAM). |

Ms. Afsar Sultana , Incharge , Department of English and Syed Sohail , Lecturer, Department of Computer Science attented the 22nd International Conference organized by Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) from September 8-10 2006. The conference Theme was "Vanishing Borders: Global English" and its included about seventeen hours of quality training given by well established experts from U.K., U.S.A., Australia, Japan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and many other countries. |
