Assalamu Alaikum!!!
I am very happy to welcome you to explore the webpage of the Telecommunication Engineering Department. The Telecommunication Engineering Department of Sir Syed University was established in the year 2007 and it was made operational with the intake of the 2008 Batch in January 2008. Currently, it has almost 300 undergraduate students in its BS program, whereas more than 600 students have graduated since its establishment. There are 30 faculty members in the department who are well qualified and possess degrees from reputed national and international Universities.
The laboratories of Telecommunication Engineering are equipped with the latest equipment to train students in practical aspects of the field. In a short span of 12 years since its establishment, the department has grown into the largest Telecommunication Department in the town. The department also offers a Master’s degree program in telecommunication engineering.
The Telecommunication Department at Sir Syed University equips students with the skills necessary to succeed in this rapidly changing industry, with our graduates going on to make an impact in many emerging areas. In fact, it is preparing graduates to survive in the emerging environment of the fourth Industrial revolution which carries many technological challenges. As the fourth wave of the industrial revolution is expected to see the heavy implementation of several emerging technologies including robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, the Internet of Things, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), fifth-generation wireless technologies (5G), additive manufacturing/3D printing and fully autonomous vehicles. Therefore, the timely upgradation of Laboratory facilities not only serves as a hub to cater to the needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) but it is also playing a vital role in the implementation of the Digital Pakistan Policy of both provincial and federal governments.
This degree is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). This accreditation is increasingly sought by employers and provides the first stage toward eventual professional registration as Professional Engineer.
The Department provides a healthy research environment to both faculty and students and facilities are available to transform innovative ideas into quality publications. In the year 2018, more than 25 quality publications were contributed by the students and faculty members of the Telecommunication Engineering Department.
The Department of Telecommunication Engineering has many international links with Universities in Europe and Australia. More recently, the department is participating in European Union International Credit Mobility Scholarship with the help of the Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization of Sir Syed University.
Looking forward to providing every possible support to graduates, current students, and upcoming students to flourish in their careers.
Wish you all the best!
