In 2019, a campaign was initiated to spread awareness among students, teachers, and society about use of non polythene bags and avoid Plastic bags by Engr. M. Yasir Zaheen, lecturer in the electronic engineering department. As we know plastic bags tend to disrupt the environment in a serious way. They get into soil and slowly release toxic chemicals. They eventually break down into the soil, with the unfortunate result being that animals eat them and often choke and die. The especially biodegradable bags were manufactured and distributed on free of cost among faculty members, students and at main door of the university to spread SDG goal number 13 climate action. The bag was printed with tree plantation picture to also promote tree plantation among society. This welfare activity was highly appreciated by the university administration.
