Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) proudly showcased 14 cutting-edge projects at the Grand Finale of Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions (FICS ’24) at NUST, Islamabad.

Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) proudly showcased 14 cutting-edge projects at the Grand Finale of Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions (FICS ’24) at NUST, Islamabad. With impressive contributions from the Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science/IT departments, SSUET highlighted a variety of solutions ranging from software innovations to socially impactful technologies. Special kudos to Huma Ahmed, Manager ORIC, for her outstanding efforts in leading the SSUET team through the FICS journey from start to finish, embodying SSUET’s drive for creativity and problem-solving in the tech world.

Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions (FICS ’24) at NUST 27-August-2024 Grand Finale & Prize Distribution Ceremony of Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions (FICS 2024), a flagship initiative of NUST towards fostering social entrepreneurship, was held at the university’s main campus. The 11th edition of FICS expanded its international footprint to Turkiye and Azerbaijan in partnership with Azerbaijan Technical University and Altinbas University, Türkiye. Mr Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Secretary Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, graced the event as chief guest. Prominent amongst others were Lt Gen (Retd) Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, Rector NUST, and Ambassadors and esteemed educationists from Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Brunei Darussalam. The overall national winner of FICS ’24 was Team Harassment Defender. It is an indigenous, femaleled initiative that seamlessly integrates hardware and app capabilities to address women’s safety concerns. Meanwhile, the Global Champion Award of USD 5000 was conferred upon an international team ABC (Amyotrophic Brain Cube) from Azerbaijan State Oil & Industry University. A Special Award was also bestowed upon team Plastigate from NUST School of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the category of SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities). In addition, a Social Impact Award was won by team Visionary from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Azerbaijan. After a rigorous three-stage process, it was the unwavering support and encouragement from the entire SSUET management that empowered our students to excel and secure their place in the FICS’24 Grand Finale. A special note of gratitude goes to the Registrar SSUET for his significant contribution to this Finale. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to ORIC-SSUET for their relentless efforts in guiding and mentoring the participants. Their commitment to fostering innovation and providing essential resources made a substantial difference. A special appreciation goes to Manager ORIC, Huma Ahmed, who played a key role throughout the FICS’24 journey, from stage-1 to the Grand Finale. 14 outstanding projects from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) were shortlisted for the FICS’24 (Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions for Society) Grand Finale, held at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. The projects mainly came from the departments of Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science/IT. These selected students embarked on an exciting journey to showcase their innovative Final Year Projects at one of the most prestigious national platforms for young technologists and engineers. The projects emphasized both technological innovation and sustainability, aligning with the current global trends towards eco-friendly and socially responsible technological solutions. The FICS competition provided SSUET participants with more than just an opportunity to compete; it was a multifaceted experience that allowed them to gain inspiration, learn from others, and network with industry professionals. In particular, the event created invaluable opportunities for students to connect with key figures in the tech industry, receive constructive feedback, and expand their professional networks. Project Highlights: The SSUET projects presented at the Grand Finale showcased a diverse range of innovations, including software solutions, hardware integration, and socially impactful technologies aimed at solving real-world problems. The emphasis on sustainability underscored the students’ dedication to contributing to the future of technology in a responsible and forward-thinking manner. Beyond the Competition: For the SSUET teams, FICS’24 was more than a competition. It was an inspiring learning experience that built a bridge to the future by helping participants refine their skills, gain new perspectives, and embrace a culture of continuous innovation. This showcasing at the national level has reaffirmed SSUET’s commitment to fostering innovation and producing graduates ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
