The Football Team of SSUET clinched the Winner Trophy of HEC Zone M Intervarsity Football Championship 2023-24 defeating IoBM in a hard-fought final on penalty kicks by 5-4 goals and thus qualified for the Final Round of HEC Football in which top 16 universities of Pakistan will take part at Sargodha.
It was for the 3rd time that Sir Syed University successively earned the HEC Zone M Intervarsity Football Championship. The event was held at the Football Ground of the host, NED University, Karachi from December 12-14, 2023.
Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin and Registrar Cdre. (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali congratulated the SSUET football team and the coach for acquiring the Football Championship Trophy, which shows their hard work and outstanding performance in the matches.
The final match of the championship was played between SSUET and IoBM, and IoBM took the lead in the start but the Captain of the SSUET team, Hussain made the score equal by hitting a goal. Then IoBM took the first penalty and scored a goal. It was then Captain Hussain, Hammas, Zubair and Aaliyan from Sir Syed University scored one goal each on penalty strokes and paved the way for the victory of Sir Syed University.
Each player of SSUET delivered the best in the field. The resilience, teamwork, and dedication exhibited throughout the championship were a testament to the hard work and preparation put in by the entire team players, and coach. SSUET won the match and defended their title successfully. Last year, SSUET defeated IBA in the final match to clinch the Championship.
Controller Students Affairs, NED, Dr. Ali Hassan along with Manager Sports, NED, Ms. Farkhunda Fasih gave trophies to SSUET, IoBM, and IBA for securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively. Mr. Mubbashir Mukhtar, Mr. Noman Uddin Khan, and Mr. Javaid Iqbal Baig from SSUET were also present on the occasion.
