Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington, Indiana, in partnership with the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), and Linked Things propose to design and implement Pakistan-Indiana Environmental and Climate Resilience University Partnership (PIECRUP) funded by the Department of State, U.S. Embassy in Pakistan.

The project focuses on the challenges of poor air quality in Pakistan, which significantly diminishes the health and livelihoods of the Pakistan population. These institutions bring a broad range of expertise and experience focused on reducing air pollution and mitigating the effects of climate change. The partnership will forge a close working relationship among themselves and in partnership with the U.S. Embassy. Past and current work at these institutions has shown the critical importance of building partnerships, sharing ideas, and engaging with communities to achieve development goals.

The partnership aims to develop capacities of workforce of environmental experts, enhance capacity of Pakistani institutions of higher education through visiting exchanges, training workshops, and mentorship coordinated by Indiana University, and enhance research infrastructure in Pakistan by installing air quality monitors for better analysis and modeling of air quality and for enhanced community communication, and outreach.
