Biomedical Engineering, a comparatively new discipline, deals with the application of engineering principles in the field of medicine. Biomedical Engineering deals with the development and applications of instrumentation, computers, materials, diagnostic and therapeutic devices, artificial organs and prostheses, and medical information systems for use in medical research and practice.
The courses being taught in the Department are supplemented through laboratory work, seminars, and internships. Upon the completion, of the program, the young engineers would be able to work in their fields with confidence or take up advanced studies and research in specialized fields.

Mission:
To produce a Biomedical Engineer who can offer services to academia, research centers, the health care industry, and society by contributing their adjunct knowledge of engineering and biomedical science in conjunction with their profound analytical and design activities for the commercialization of innovative research products. To provide Biomedical Engineering Graduates who can work dynamically for industry-academia collaboration by comprehending the socio-economical, ethical, and professional protocols.

To provide an enabling environment to all stakeholders of SSUET in the pursuit of technological and socio-economic development, for the achievement of long-term societal benefits through innovation, research, commercialization, and sharing of knowledge imbued with the sense of social and moral responsibility aligned with the Aligarh spirit.
